The #UDHR Quilt project - Craftivism, quilts and human rights

What is the #UDHR Quilt Project?

Emerging from the wounds of the Second World War, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was devised to be the world’s conscience. It established that the ‘recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world’.

Defending our human rights is as critical now as it ever was. The #UDHRquilt Project is a collaborative craftivism project that both celebrates the UDHR and interrogates the current state of human rights. These quilts bear witness to world events. The craftivists’ commitment proves they care.

At MoAD, we celebrate the spirit of Australian democracy and the power of your voice. This means we welcome conversations about politics, social change and human rights. These important topics provoke a diversity of passionate opinions—and it’s OK to respectfully disagree!
