I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life but I have been lucky enough to travel around a bunch, thanks to having two flight attendants as parents. I started embroidering this past month and quickly fell in love with it. Outside of embroidery I enjoy many other forms of art: drawing, painting, throwing pottery, collage/mixed media, etc. I love being able to explore all forms of art and allow my knowledge from separate mediums to influence me in my endeavours. She has never found a medium that has held her attention as much as embroidery. She graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2012, enjoying photography, printmaking, sculpture, book-making, and creative writing. During the last term of school she began to develop an interest in needle-felting and wet-felting, later moving on to sewing and embroidery. </p> <p>Maryanne has worked for Public Dreams Society, a community-based arts group, and has donated art to Art For Life, a local organisation that helps people with AIDS access various supports.</p> <p>After earning a diploma in early childhood education at Langara College in 2014, she has worked with children in group-care settings for the past few years. Helping facilitate opportunities for children to be creative is ever fascinating and greatly rewarding. She is also interested in finding ways to help adults remember how fearless they were as children, creatively, and help them be free to engage in the process and explore new mediums.</p> <p>Maryanne revels in any opportunity to be in nature and around animals. She is a multidisciplinary street artist who is fascinated by handicrafts and how  DIY is changing the world we live in. Veneno started as 100% handmade embroidered designs, as patches and clothes, but rapidly started to change as the artist decided to work with different materials and mixed media (stencil, collage, painting, stickers, zines, video…). The work is usually dropped around the streets of Brooklyn or Manhattan and shared via social media. </p> <p>She is the creator of the free zine PINCHE, where she brings together artists worldwide through call outs. This zine is fully created and distributed by Veneno. Lately, she is working on body collage, using her body as canvas and also with collaborators. The idea is to make people talk; make them feel through art. It was really important for me to share the message in both languages I speak, English and Spanish. The result of my canvas is pretty feminine, and reflects the love with which it was made. There are many places where people are one political turn or one media takeover from a higher level of censorship.</p> <p>Initially I was going to put iconography around the Article text, but leaving it blank is a more fitting approach as it encourages people to think about what opinions and methods of communication they hold dear.
